There’s nothing like biting into a ripe, juicy peach on a hot Summer day and letting the liquid drip right down your hand…and onto your shirt if you are me! However, you may be slurping up more than juice off your hand. The sweet nature of peaches attracts bugs, so peaches have become a high pesticide crop. Their thin skin also makes them more porous /absorbent and their trees are sprayed year after year, increasing their pesticide concentration. Choose organic to avoid this issue with peaches and check out further reading at the bottom for a list of high and low pesticide crops.
